            Improving Communication – INTP

            Communication Tips for INTPs:

v Remember that many people seek harmony and personal relationships with co-workers.
à TIP: Develop patience for the sharing of personal information by others; avoid coming across as
                     impersonal or detached.

v In addition to using your logic, strive to understand personal aspects of a situation.
à TIP: Balance your abstract, conceptual approach with a consideration of the personal needs and
                     situations of the people involved.

v Take time to work out conflicts and deal with personal issues at work.
à TIP: Be willing to express your feelings and share your viewpoint.

v Consider facts, short-term implications, and the practical realities of a situation.
à TIP: Share details behind your vision and ideas to enable others to understand and implement them
                     easier.

v Balance corrective feedback with positive feedback when working with people that have a preference for
                Feeling.
à TIP: Check how others are feeling when giving feedback and hold back the tendency to critique
                     while providing corrective feedback.

v Not everyone is comfortable critiquing and debating ideas.
à TIP: Be mindful of who you are interacting with and be sensitive to others’ perspectives and needs.

v Not everyone is aware or thinks about asking others their preferences.
à TIP: Help people understand what’s important to you and set the example by asking others what
their preferences are in relation to working together. Share yours as appropriate.
