            All proposal co-ordinators have received a quick information letter with a copy of the evaluation 
            summary report (ESR) on November 24th. Proposals have been ranked according to these evaluation 
            results and funding decisions will be made on the basis of this ranking.  
             
            The compulsory internal procedure of consulting other Commission services that are potentially 
            concerned with the content of the evaluation has now been successfully completed and therefore we 
            are now informing applicants of the final status of each proposal (see list in Annex). 
             
            Information on the selected projects will be published on CORDIS once grant agreements have been

            IMPORTANT: Results published below are for information only and should not be regarded under 
            any circumstances as a formal commitment by the Commission or the REA to provide financial 
            support or otherwise, as this depends on the available budget, the outcome of negotiations and the 
            completion of the formal procedures. 
     Key to provisional status of proposals and further steps 
      
     Status A: Proposal recommended for funding 
     Proposals in this category are positioned within the available budget. They will be invited to enter 
     into Grant Agreement negotiation in the beginning of 2010. Negotiations will take place between the 
     REA and the proposal Coordinator. These negotiations will fix all contract details, and in particular 
     the Annex I "Description of work", the funding to be allocated to the project and its start date. 
     Subject to the successful completion of the negotiations, proposals with an A status will be 
     submitted in batches to a formal selection procedure and will receive a Grant Agreement offer for 
     signature by both parties. 
      
     Status B: Proposal on the reserve list 
     Funding for these projects could be available depending primarily on the outcome of the negotiation 
     of proposals of status A. Applicants will be contacted in due time either to enter into contract 
     negotiations or to inform them that the reserve list is closed and that their project will be rejected 
     because of lack of funding. If not invited to enter into negotiations, proposals of status B will be 
     submitted to a final formal rejection procedure and will receive a rejection decision letter. 
      
     Status C: Proposals above thresholds but not retained for funding nor on the reserve list 
     because of lack of budgetary resources 
     Proposals with a C status have passed all thresholds; however, they cannot be retained due to 
     budgetary constraints and will be rejected. Proposals will be submitted to a formal rejection 
     procedure and will receive a formal rejection decision letter in the coming months. 
      
     Status D: Proposals failing one or more thresholds 
     Proposals with a D status have failed either an individual or the overall thresholds. These proposals 
     will be rejected. Proposals will be submitted to a formal rejection procedure and will receive a 
     formal rejection decision letter in the coming months. 
      
     E: Proposal not eligible. Proposals under this category have not been taken into account during 
     evaluation for one of the following reasons: 
     −  The proposal failed one or more administrative eligibility criteria. 
     −  The proposal was a duplicate of another that was evaluated. 
      
     F: Proposal withdrawn by the applicant before evaluation.
