                      Local Scholarship Application 
                                
     Every year the Hardin County Go-Texan Committee devotes hours of work for one purpose – the youth of Hardin Coun-
     ty. Through participation with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and with our organization, area youth are granted 
     scholarships each year. The committee participates in the HLSR World Championship Barbeque Contest each year. It 
     also participates in contests sponsored by other surrounding Area Go-Texan programs. We host two events each year: 
     a barbeque cook-off in September and a chili/gumbo cook-off in January. These two events fund our scholarships. Be-
     cause of the efforts of our committee, in 2016 we were able to give $21,000 to Hardin County graduates. There are 18 
     members on our committee who are dedicated to achieving our goals each year. This year the Hardin County Go-
     Texan Committee again will be giving away scholarships to local youths. A group from the Hardin County Go-Texan 
     Committee will make up the selection committee and their decisions will be final. 
      
     **IMPORTANT: This application is separate from the Houston Livestock Show Area Go-Texan Scholarship application 
     you may have filled out in February. Even if you submitted the Houston Livestock Show application in February, you 
     must fill this application out to be considered. 
      
     APPLICATION PROCEDURE:  Applications are provided to each school counselor in Hardin County, along with each 
     FFA Advisor and the Hardin County Extension Office. Applications should be completed in full and must be typed or 
     printed neatly in black or blue ink. All applications must be received by Thursday, April 13, 2017 to your school coun-
     selor. A representative from the Go-Texan Committee will pick them up from the counselor’s office. 
      
     APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY: Any Hardin County graduate is eligible that has 1. Applied to a college or vocational trade 
     school 2. Includes current academic standings 3. Have appropriate testing scores that are required for your college or 
     vocational school of choice 
      
     All applications are kept confidential. 
     Please advise your references that they may receive a phone call about your application. 
     All applications must be turned in to your school counselor by April 13, 2017. 
     Be sure your answers are correct as they may be verified with your school counselor. 
     The scholarship or partial scholarship will be paid directly to your school or to the recipient when we receive documen-
