                      pg. 40, Slope
                                                                                                  1
     Week 3 09.24.17 Day 1 Solving Inequalities In One Variable.notebook September 24, 2018
Learning Target: I can write and solve linear
            inequalities in one variable.
MGSE9-12.A.CED.1 Create equations and inequalities in
one variable and use them to solve problems. Include
            equations arising from linear functions.
                                                                                                  2
     Week 3 09.24.17 Day 1 Solving Inequalities In One Variable.notebook September 24, 2018
Solving and Graphing Inequalities in One Variable
                                The Golden Rule of Inequalities
Whenever you MULTIPLY or DIVIDE both sides of an
inequality by a NEGATIVE NUMBER, you must flip the
                  inequality symbol.
                1. Isolate the variable. (Use same rules for solving equations.)
                2. Check the order! (Variable Symbol Constant)
                3. Circle the number on the number line.
                4. Open or Closed circle?
                5. Shade appropriately.
                     Open Circle Example:
                                                          5  3x  13 + x
                    Closed Circle
                                                                                                  3
     Week 3 09.24.17 Day 1 Solving Inequalities In One Variable.notebook September 24, 2018
                               Solving Inequalities Examples
           1. 5x  12 < 3x  4
           2. 14x + 5 < 7(2x  3)
           3. 12x  1 > 6(2x  1)
                                                                                                  4
