Prediction	journals	take	advantage	of	authors	by	asking	them	to	publish	for	a	fee	without	providing	peer-review	or	editing	services.	Because	predatory	publishers	don’t	follow	the	right	academic	standards	for	publishing,
  they	usually	offer	a	quick	breakthrough	in	publishing	a	manuscript.	In	contrast,	high-quality	academic	journals	require	more	time	to	publish	articles	because	they	go	through	a	proper	process	of	peer	review	and	copy	editing.	How	are	predatory	journals	different	from	Open	Access?	Open	Access	journals	may	encourage	authors	to	publish	for	a	fee,	but
  maintain	high	standards	for	peer	review	and	editing.	The	objective	of	the	publication	of	Open	Access	is	to	spread	the	search	to	a	wider	audience	by	removing	paywalls.   know	the	diary?	Do	you	recognize	the	editorial	staff?	2.	Can	you	easily	contact	the	publisher?	3.	The	journal	is	clear	about	their	review	process	4.	Is	it	clear	what	taxes	will	be	charged?	If	the	answer	is	no	for	one	of	these	questions,	the	magazine	is	very	probable	questionable,	if	not	predator.	How	can	I	check	if	my	diary	is	respectable?	There	is	no
  stupid	way	to	determine	if	a	diary	is	a	predator.	Requires	a	bit	of	Opera.	Here	are	some	places	you	can	search	to	determine	the	quality	of	an	open	access	journal.	Is	the	diary	open?	In	this	case,	is	it	listed	in	the	directory	of	open	access	magazines?	Ã,	search	for	the	directory	of	open	access	magazines.	Make	sure	you	limit	your	search	only	to	magazines.
  The	doajÃ	¢	will	carefully	show	the	outdoor	access	magazines	for	inclusion,	so	if	the	journal	is	not	listed	in	doaj,	it	means	that	it	could	be	questionable.	Is	the	diary	indexed	in	Medline?	Search	for	the	NLM	catalog.	If	the	record	says	"not	currently	indexed	for	Medline"	means	that	the	Journal	could	be	questionable.	Just	because	a	diary	is	not	indexed	in
  Medline,	does	not	mean	that	the	diary	is	automatically	questionable.	It	could	also	mean	that	the	diary	is	too	new	for	Medline	or	scope.	The	diary	was	identified	by	others	as	predators?	Is	it	listed	on	cabell	predatory	reports?	Google	The	title	of	your	diary	with	the	predatory	word.	You	may	be	able	to	easily	find	news	stories	about	the	diary	and	its
  predatory	practices.	You	can	also	check	the	Cabell	Predatory	Reports	to	see	if	the	diary	is	listed.	Does	the	Journal	have	an	impact	factor	or	list	it	on	their	website?	Attention!	If	you	claim	a	diary	to	have	an	impact	factor,	make	sure	to	confirm	this	through	the	official	newspaper	quote	report	database.	Only	rejoiced	magazines	through	the	JCR	can
  officially	say	that	they	have	an	impact	factor.	Many	predatory	magazines	will	constitute	an	impact	factor	in	an	attempt	to	appear	reputable.	Finally,	ask	a	librarian!	Librarians	are	trained	to	identify	predatory	magazines.	Do	not	hesitate	to	ask	for	a	second	opinion.	We	can	also	help	you	find	a	reputable	diary	in	your	thematic	area.	How	common	are	the
  predatory	magazines?	Starting	from	2015,	there	were	about	996	predatory	publishers	(including	447	publishers	of	autonomous	magazines)	that	published	over	11,800	magazines.	Of	those,	about	8,000	newspaper	titles	were	active	and	published	for	a	total	of	about	420,000	items.	For	the	comparison,	this	is	approximately	the	same	size,	both	in	the
  newspaper	titles	and	in	published	articles,	such	as	the	legitimate	open-access	editorial	industry.	Not	all	these	predatory	magazines	are	in	biomedicine	fields,	but	the	biomedicine	is	a	main	area	for	predatory	publishers	and	the	prevalence	of	predatory	magazines	varies	between	specific	fields.   predatory	journals	comes	from	US	authors.	However,	this	represents	less	than	1%	of	the	US	total	search	output.
