Learning Objectives All: To describe at least 3 renewable and at least 3 nonrenewable energy resources Most: To explain how different renewable and nonrenewable energy resources work. Some: To evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of different energy resources. We all use electrical items every day. Some use batteries Some plug into the mains ● Mains electricity is used to power larger items that need more energy. ● It is usually produced by moving a magnet really fast near some wires in a machine called a generator. ● Because we use it constantly we need to keep this magnet moving as fast as possible all the time. ● This is what happens in a power plant. Power plants come in many different types. ● Some methods of keeping the generator working are nonrenewable. This means that the energy source will run out one day. ● Some methods of keeping the generator working are renewable. This means that the energy source will run not run out, or at least will be available for a very long time.
