Student Leadership •Student Council •Peer Mentors •Class Captains Student Leadership Opportunities in Enfield Community College At Enfield Community College, we endeavour to include our students in the day to day life of our college. The student council provides a positive role in the effective running of a school. Students provide a valuable contribution through communication, planning and organisational skills which will be of benefit to them in their future. Student leadership opportunities in our school are categorised into two areas: •School Council •Peer Mentors •Class Captains We are guided and supported by the school leadership team and we work closely with school management and the staff of the college. Role of the Student Council •Our primary aim is to improve the daily lives of students in partnership with school management. •We provide a forum for students to highlight issues of concern and try to achieve a greater unity by seeking acceptable solutions together. •We strengthen our relationship with the local community by fundraising and supporting local causes. •We promote friendship and respect among pupils. •We represent views of students and matters of general concern. Student Council • The council meets either weekly or forth- nightly to discuss important matters. • The council reports back to school management. • The focus of the student council is to enable student’s opinions and suggestions to be communicated to the college. School Leadership • We review various school policies and we attend the Meath Comhairle na nOg annual general meeting and make contact with the local politicians. • We attend annual leadership training. This training is educational and inspirational and we participate fully and enjoy the experience. • This is an exciting opportunity to help with the development of this school and to greatly enhance school life by displaying positive leadership to all. • We support teachers and work along staff and we will represent the school and school body at public events.
