The focus in this week is on corporate social
responsibility, which involves responsibilities
outside of making a profit and the key
questions for corporations include:
• Does business have a social responsibility?
• If so, what is the extent and type of the
responsibility?

What is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)?

• ‘The awareness, acceptance and management of the wider implications of
corporate decisions.’

• ‘It is about what companies do to make a positive contribution to society
above and beyond that which constitutes their legal obligations.’
(Blowfield and Murray, 2014:7)
• ‘Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is seriously considering the impact of
the company’s actions on society.’
