The NSBSD worked with Cultureflo Consulting over the past six months to engage the community in a conversation about what the district could be doing to improve their service and include the community more in their decision making. To accomplish this, there was a leadership team established that met on a bi- weekly cadence. The primary task of this team was to work with the consultants to design and hold two community alignment summits and to ensure that the results of the summits were Overview communicated in the district, as well as, acted upon. The first summit generated a set of priorities and the second summit established teams to address the priorities. The summit outcomes were used to inform the board of directors strategic planning process. The summit participants were a good sample representation of the communities that the district serves and included parents, students, teachers, principals, board members, along with prominent leaders from several North Slope organizations.
