Social media now is very popular because people can contact and communicate easily as well exchange of information. • Svetlana and Philip (2012) formulate differences between the use of web sites and social media, especially Facebook for the marketing activities as follows. 1. People uses a web site because the web is the online home of brand. The use Facebook as a marketing media because it has millions of members worldwide. Thus the consumers are easily connect with the brands while they are online. 2. A web site is a place for the company to display all contents relating to products or services they offer to consumers. Facebook’s strength is to be able to show the brands liked by a consumer then other people (the consumer friends) can see it through news feed. 3. The web is easily found from its URL and no need to log in and register. This makes consumers easy to find it through search engines. Since Facebook owns the users’ personal data then the marketer can more easily determine the target market pursuant to the Facebook users’ needs. 4. A company possesses the contents and has an authority to display to consumers. To display a product in Facebook simply put it in Facebook page available for the users and it is more easily to update the information. 5. A brand web site can reach consumers all of over the world. Facebook enables the marketer to interact directly with the users when offering their products.
