Sheet 1: Instructions
No matter how you finance your education, you must manage your money to maximize your situation and ultimately reach your goals. Take charge of your money and be informed!

This spreadsheet is designed to help you understand your weekly spending and ultimately build a monthly budget.

1. Start by tracking your weekly spending for 4 weeks. This spreadsheet has pre-determined categories that may describe your weekly spending habits, as well as spaces for additional costs you may have. Each week has a notes section to help with your tracking.

2. As you track your spending each week, the spreadsheet will input your costs into the monthly budget tab. At the end of your 4 weeks of tracking, you'll have an idea of how your weekly costs fit your monthly budget. You can use the costs from your first month as a benchmark to plan your budget for the following months.

3. Input your established monthly expenses into the deignated spots on the Monthly Budget worksheet. This usually includes rent, utlities, cell phone bills, and other costs you pay for once per month.

4. Input your income in the designated spot on the Monthly Budget worksheet (this can include funds from jobs, loan refunds, or other sources of income). Once you have your costs for the first month, you'll be able to see how much of your income is going towards maintaining your budget, on average.
