Sheet 1: How to Use This Tool
| Rapid Test for Recent Infection (RTRI) Surveillance Activities and Inventory Tool | ||||||||||||
| This comprehensive spreadsheet has been developed to aid RTRI implementors to: 1) Calculate the laboratory consumables needed for trainings and specimen panel production: Quality Control (QC) panels, Training Panels (TP), and Proficiency Testing (PT) panels. 2) Maintain a laboratory consumables inventory log to ensure sufficient supply for upcoming additional TOTs and step-down trainings 3) Monitor national stock supply of RTRI tests and determine when to place next order 4) Maintain QC, PT, TP panel inventory to ensure there are no stock-outs needed for testing quality monitoring, trainings, and a proficiency testing program 5) Maintain an inventory and testing results log of blood bank samples used to make specimen panels for the RTRI program 6) Determine the estimated costs associated with implementing a recency surveillance program Instructions are provided on each tab on how to fill in the necessary information, how frequently the activities should be performed, and information for consideration. The intended users for this tool include, but not limited to, National Reference Lab (NRL) staff, MoH staff, RTRI implementing partners, and study managers responsible for monitoring and maintaining supplies and tests needed for RTRI testing. |

| INSTRUCTIONS: This calculator is used to estimate the total number of RTRI kits and other lab-related consumables needed for recency training of trainers (ToTs), DTS QC, and plasma training panel preparation and trainings. The costs will vary depending on the country and pricing agreement with vendors. Please enter the relevant information in cells C12:C19 (higlighted in yellow) and the supplies and costs will be calculated automatically below. Note: If the country is considering only plasma samples for their QC, TP and PT panel productions, then please contact CDC ILB ISMEs for the plasma version only of this calculator. Additionally, please contact ILB to determine if a prodcut can be substituted. |

| INSTRUCTIONS: The spreadsheet should be used to maintain an ongoing inventory of laboratory supplies needed for additional ToT, step-down training and panel preparation (QC, TP and PT panels). This inventory tool should be completed EVERY MONTH and AFTER EVERY TRAINING. It should be used together with the Consumables Calculator (previous tab) to help determine preparedness status when planning for training and panel preparation activities. Take note of expiry dates of the supplies and exercise the first in/first out (FIFO) and/or first expired/first out (FEFO) rules. Add INVENTORY DATE into the yellow box and add columns as needed. |
