New Zealand Organisation for Quality Canterbury Regional Branch INVITATION – PRESENTATION Dr David Hawke on how testing laboratory clients can enhance the quality of lab results If you work in science, health or food processing a time will come when you will need to choose a laboratory to perform an analysis that you do not have the facilities, equipment or qualified personnel to perform. What steps can you take to ensure that the results are fit-for-purpose? David’s presentation is based loosely on the paper published in the journal, “Methods in Ecology and Evolution” titled “Closing the circle: how ecologists can prepare their own quality control material to increase confidence in stable isotope data”. This will not be a technical presentation but David will summarise important factors for selecting a laboratory, then talk about sources of laboratory error and what a client can do about it. For example are you better off using a laboratory that has links to a national research science organisation, or has IANZ accreditation or plans to become accredited. Come and find out. After there will be drinks and refreshments and a networking opportunity. We will have the opportunity to ask further questions of our host.
