Dear 4-H Agent:
Thanks for your continued support of the 2022 State 4-H Fashion Camp, which will be held on
January 21-23 at Camp Grant Walker. Camp was a success in past years, and we are looking
forward to a repeat performance. We hope you have identified 4-H’ers in your parish who want
to learn more about fashion in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Fashion Camp has been planned
and will be conducted by the State 4-H Fashion Board under the direction of volunteer state
board leaders. Space is limited, so don’t wait to send in registration.
Fashion Camp Theme: “4-H Lights, Camera, Fashion”
The Fashion Board chose this theme to reflect their personal excitement about fashion and the
attitude that the campers will adopt as they travel through the experiences at camp. In addition
to basic sewing fundamentals, a few of the educational activities for campers include: a sewing
caddy, tote bag, a reading pillow, a community service project plus more. You will return home
with completed projects and ideas to host your own fashion workshop.
Schedule:
The camp schedule kicks off on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at 11:00 a.m. on
Sunday. Campers and volunteers needing to drive in Friday night may request Camp Grant
Walker overnight accommodations on the registration form. Please note there will be no
fashion camp activities planned for Friday evening. The adult chaperone is responsible for
campers until camp begins. Upon arrival please check in at the Multipurpose Building for cabin
assignments.
Camper Eligibility:
Each parish has the opportunity to send a maximum of two 4-H campers (10-13 years old) and
one adult leader (project leader, junior leader, parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.) for camp.
Due to limited space, Fashion Camp participation will be limited to 30 4-H’ers (25 adults),
accepted on a first-come, first served basis with paid registration fee and all completed
forms as well as online registration by parish Agent. A waiting list will be maintained for
alternates. Every year we have a few who cancel so register your alternates on the enrollment
site. Do not wait until the deadline as number is limited.

Adult Volunteer Leader required:
To accompany and help campers from your parish, an adult leader is required. Overnight
Chaperone Training is required and the OCT date listed on registration form. New leaders
must be trained/screened and information submitted prior to two weeks before camp begins to
allow time for verification and certification. It is recommended that the adult leader have
knowledge of sewing and/or use of sewing machine and equipment and agrees to assist camper
with a teaching activity in the parish within the next 12 months. Each camp participant will
receive curriculum materials to help with local fashion activities. For Friday night arrivals, the
adult chaperone is responsible for the campers until camp begins on Saturday morning.
Fashion Board members are assigned to each group to help campers understand how to
complete each project. Your role is to help your campers learn how to sew and participate in
activities as needed. In addition, one of the major objectives of camp is to expand our 4-H
efforts through trained youth/leader teams on the local level.
State 4-H Fashion Board Members:
Your Louisiana State 4-H Fashion Board Members will be conducting the workshops and
presentations. Please note that current Fashion Board members will not be able to serve as
junior leaders for parish campers, as they will be busy conducting the camp program having
responsibilities to the whole group. Fashion Board members are scheduled to arrive Friday by
5:30pm. Fashion Board members must register online with parish agent.
Registration Form, Fee, Deadlines
Camp participants (4-H’ers, adult leaders, and board members) are each responsible for camp
fees to help cover lodging, meals, supplies and other camp-related expenses. Please indicate
Camper’s registration form as camper #one, camper #two, or alternate. The waiting list is
created upon receipt of completed registration packet including payment on a first come first
serve basis. Alternates will be contacted following the registration deadline. Only complete
registration packets will be considered as “registered” for camp, i.e. online
registration must be completed as well as registration form, health form, code of
conduct AND payment must be submitted by the deadline date…just being registered
in the online enrollment system WILL NOT hold the camper a spot. If a camper cancels

will not receive a refund (supplies, lodging, t-shirts, meals and facilities have already been
charged to us) unless an alternate camper takes the camper’s spot. If you have questions or
problems with the online registration system, please contact tagiroir@agcenter.lsu.edu .
