We recognize that each aspect of a student’s experience is an opportunity for growth, and we require every student to explore a range of interests in academics, the arts, and athletics. We believe that each student’s potential must be developed thoughtfully through stimulating, challenging experiences. As students take increasing individual and collective responsibility for their development, appropriate structure and high expectations establish a strong foundation and useful framework for learning and creative expression. Within this framework, we encourage each student to question assumptions, take risks, learn from mistakes, and participate in scholarly inquiry. At Bullis, we value diversity and embrace its many dimensions. We regard interactions among people of various backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints as essential to developing the respect, empathy and compassion that lie at the heart of our school. Integrity, accountability and trust are central to the relationships we develop at Bullis and to our interactions with those outside of the school community. Working together with families, we teach students that the well-being of the Bullis community is a shared responsibility and that service to others enables us all to explore our humanity and become active and responsible world citizens. LEARNING SUPPORT FOR ALL At Bullis, we value and appreciate the unique talents and perspectives of our student population. We know our learners and recognize that students may require accommodations and specialized academic support to access the curriculum and reach their full potential. We work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and staff to ensure the needs of each individual student are met in an equitable and inclusive manner. Our faculty provides students with engaging, rigorous, and relevant learning opportunities that allow students to pursue their passions, develop their talents, and learn skills that prepare them for the future. Bullis strives to serve our student population while recognizing the need to balance an equitable approach to all learners. Bullis embraces the essential teamwork between families and school in an environment that is grounded in sharing, transparency, and communication. Upon admission to Bullis, we ask that families provide relevant and current educational assessments to our team in order to collaboratively develop student accommodation plans and identify appropriate supports. Our first priority is to connect with you to learn about your child and how we might work together to ensure a positive start to their academic journey at Bullis. While we commit to offering services and supports that benefit our students, we cannot guarantee that all accommodation requests will be met. Families are responsible for updating testing every three years and may be asked to obtain additional supports and therapies based on the recommendations of our team. 3
