THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN BUSINESS LEADERSHIP IN SINJAR
                          Abstract
Women's leadership is an essential aspect of leadership. Still, women's leadership in
business remains a global issue. So, many researchers studying women in business seek to
increase their presence. However, women's leadership in Sinjar is a strong research focus to
discover the problems and indicates to boost it.
The purpose of this study is to discover the factors that increased women's willingness
to engage in business leadership roles in Sinjar following ISIS's withdrawal in 2014, as well
as the challenges women face today. In this study, the mixed research method was used to
collect data to answer the research questions. The research questions aim to know what
limited women's willingness to engage in business leadership before 2014, the factors that
increased their willingness after 2014, and the factors that now stand in the way of women to
reduce the gender gap in business.
71 people from Sinjar and from different academic backgrounds participated in the
survey, and 9 women leaders in business participated in the qualitative data. These data
showed the obstacles that restrict women from reaching business leadership, summarized in
societal culture, lack of education, and the developing economy. In addition, the data also
showed the change in these factors after the mass migration to different regions inside and
outside Iraq in 2014. Finally, this study found the current obstacles for women in business
leadership represented by societal culture, the gender gap, geography, and security.
Key Words: Leadership, Women, Business, Sinjar, Gender gap.

THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN BUSINESS LEADERSHIP IN SINJAR
                          Santrauka
