                          PREFACE
Contemporary India & Education contains material on several issues of
education related to contemporary India. The book has been created mainly to
help develop better understanding among students relating certain important
issues and challenges that are being faced by the current educational system in
the country. It may also help them to learn and appreciate the post-independence
problems faced by the education system in the country.
The book is strictly developed on the lines of Two year B.Ed. curriculum
of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra. It contains good material relating
the Commissions and Committees on Education that have been constituted time
to time in the past. It deals with the issues connected withthe underprivileged
sections of the society. It also deals with the innovative practices in education
and provides students sufficient knowledge about several self-teaching technical
             devices.
Besides, it also deals with the constitutional values and various provisions
meant for education in it. That would help students learn about certain specific
educational issues which may enlighten them about different problems relating
the current educational system. The authors have provided sufficient questions
after each chapter relating the text material contained within the particular
chapter. It is very much hoped that the entire material created in the book will
surely help students develop a deep as well as a broad understand about several
educational issues that so far have not been dealt with many books dealing with
educational themes. It is very much hoped that book will highly be useful to the
students of education who have been admitted for two years’ B.Ed.
