We appreciate the opportunity to submit feedback regarding the use of an alternate common or usual name for potassium chloride. Many of the signatories on this letter plan to submit comments to the agency regarding this important topic. However, additional time is needed to obtain consumer perception data and information to submit as part of our comments. We respectfully request that FDA extend the comment period for an additional 60 days, until September 17, 2019. The additional time will allow us to prepare thorough and meaningful comments informed by well-designed consumer perception research. We greatly appreciate your timely consideration and prompt response to this request. Sincerely, American Bakers Association American Frozen Food Institute Council for Responsible Nutrition Independent Bakers Association 1/ 84 FR 22749 (May 20, 2019); Draft Guidance for Industry: The Use of an Alternate Name for Potassium Chloride in Food Labeling (May 2019), https://www.fda.gov/regulatory- information/search-fda-guidance-documents/draft-guidance-industry-use-alternate-name- potassium-chloride-food-labeling.
