            Fact Sheet – 2023 entry

            St John’s Grammar School offers Music Scholarships to students entering into the Middle School (Years 7-9) or 
            Senior School (Years 10-12) in 2023, who display excellence and/or outstanding potential in Music. 
             
            St John’s Grammar School has a highly successful music program, and students are consistently provided with 
            large practical performance opportunities within the school, wider community and around Australia. In 
            addition to a strong theory curriculum, students can be involved in many different Band, String, Woodwind 
            and Choral Ensembles. These Ensembles, both Band and Vocal, are State and National award-winning 
            ensembles, and are highly regarded in the music community for their professionalism and performance 
            quality.

     Useful Information 
      
       Scholarship applications for 2023 entry close on Friday 28 January 2022. 
       Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Head of Music to be informed of the audition date and time. 
       Candidates are advised to arrive at least 15 minutes early on the day of audition to warm up. 
       Candidates are encouraged to perform a repertoire that best displays their musical and technical ability, 
      and a high level of interpretive skill on their principal instrument. 
       Candidates are encouraged to perform with an accompanist or backing track. If an accompanist is needed, 
      this must be organised by the candidate as this cannot be provided by the School. 
       Where possible, candidates are encouraged to provide a copy of the music being performed to the audition 
      panel. 
       Students may like to bring copies of their AMEB certificates, school reports, practical reports, school 
      reference from either a Principal or teacher, or a performance portfolio for the interview.
