The Glennie School Helene Orton Performing Arts Scholarship Application Instructions 1. Register Applicants must register to be considered for the Helene Orton Performing Arts Scholarship 2023 via this form and pay the application fee. Applicants are not required to sit the Scholarship Test, however, may do so should they wish to also be considered for an Academic or General Ability Scholarship. Short-listed applicants will be offered the opportunity to audition. The Helene Orton Performing Arts Scholarship Auditions will be held on 26 February 2022. 2. Application for Enrolment An application for enrolment at The Glennie School must be received two weeks prior to the audition day. The online application form can be found here. 3. Resume A one to two-page resume listing the applicant’s performing arts achievements is to be submitted in PDF format at the link below. Sighting of original documents may be requested. 4. Due Date All requirements above must be submitted via this link by Friday, 18 February 2022. No late submissions will be accepted. Helene Orton Performing Arts Scholarship Conditions ● Scholarships offered will apply as a reduction to base tuition fees. Where appropriate, the scholarship may be applied to boarding fees. It does not extend to other charges, such as comprehensive fees, the cost of laptop hire or extra-curricular charges. ● It is also possible for auditionees to be awarded the Helene Orton Performing Arts Commendation. The Commendation entitles the student to private instrumental or voice lessons to the value of $1,100 per annum, for the duration of the scholarship. The co-curricular lessons are to be organised through the School’s Performing Arts Centre. Where a tutor is not available at Glennie or a student is currently learning with an outside tutor, external lessons may be approved by the Director of Performance by making this request in writing. ● The scholarship and commendation are tenable from Term 1 of the next school year until the end of Year 12, subject to continuing adherence to the Scholarship Conditions below. ● The holder of this scholarship and commendation will be required to: ○ Be an active participant in a minimum of two Performing Arts co-curricular ensembles on the auditioned instrument ○ Achieve ongoing high performance standards in their chosen instrument or area ○ Uphold and enhance the ethos, values and traditions of the School ○ Maintain appropriate academic standards and uphold the terms and conditions of enrolment 1 ○ Attend an annual performance review with the Director of Performance in Term 4 of each school year. ● A student may be the recipient of one School scholarship only. A student who is awarded and accepts a higher value scholarship forfeits the previous one. ● Scholarship offers are conditional on a successful enrolment interview. ● Scholarship offers are not negotiable. ● Scholarship offers are confidential. Scholarships for 2023 Applications for scholarships for entry in 2023 open on Monday, 1 November 2021 and close at midnight on Friday, 18 February 2022.
