              To Whom It May Concern: 
               
              Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 15, 1908 at Howard University in Washington 
              D.C. and is the first Greek-lettered sorority established and incorporated by African American college 
              women.  The  sorority  was  founded  on  the  ideals  of  Sisterhood,  Scholarship, and “Service to all 
              Mankind”. 
               
              The Mu Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was chartered in 1978 in 
              Junction City, KS.   For over 40 years, the Mu Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, 
              Inc., has been serving the Manhattan, Fort Riley, and Junction City communities. 
               
              In reverence to the ideals of Scholarship and “Service to All Mankind”, the Mu Eta Omega Chapter 
              recognizes the importance of post-secondary education.   The Mu Eta Omega Chapter is offering a $250 
              scholarship to an ethnic minority high school senior female from Junction City High School or Manhattan 
              High School, who plans to attend college in the fall semester of 2019.  Below are the instructions and 
              other pertinent information: 
               
                                               PERTINENT INFORMATION 
              In order for your application to be considered, please provide the following information in your packet. 
                     Completed Application Form (enclosed) 
                     An Essay:  In 500 words or less, please introduce yourself and discuss your educational/career 
                      goals.  Identify any financial needs you may have and include other pertinent information. 
                     An  official high school transcript in a sealed envelope 
                     Submit  two (2)  Letters  of  Recommendation  
                         o  One letter from  a  Teacher,  Counselor  or  School Administrator 
                         o  One letter from a community  leader (Pastor, Youth Leader, etc…) on organizational 
                             letterhead who can attest to your character. 
               
              The scholarship applicants will be invited to a Scholarship Reception which will take place in May. 
              Formal invitations will be mailed to applicants 
               
              The deadline for submittal is Friday, April 26, 2019.  Applications must be typed.  Incomplete or late 
              application packets will not be considered.  Faxed copies will not be accepted.
