Welcome To Cummins Power. Cummins Tier 4 Final Engine Operation And Support. 350450_Cummins_4087315.indd 3 2/2/15 4:40 PM Welcome To Your New Cummins Tier 4 Final Engine. As the operator of a Cummins Tier 4 Final engine, you’re going to find a whole new level of performance. In addition to operating at near-zero emissions levels, Cummins engines are more powerful and more responsive than prior models, for improved cycle times and greater productivity. Every job. Better Success. Every Engine. Cummins Tier 4 Final engines go a step further – not just producing better performance while being better for the environment, but also making you more successful on the bottom line. They get more done while costing you less to operate – so you get more value out of a piece of equipment with a Cummins Tier 4 Final engine over its entire working life. Success over the long term is the goal for every operator, and we’re making it easier than ever to ensure proper care for your investment and boost your uptime. It can be summed up in five simple steps: ® ■ Register your engine at QuickServe Online for engine parts and service information ■ Download the Cummins Tier 4 Operator App ■ Use the right fluids, and keep your Tier 4 Final system clean ■ Know your coverage ■ Perform engine maintenance as recommended Step 1: Register Your Engine At QuickServe Online. QuickServe Online (quickserve.cummins.com) is your complete reference for Cummins engine parts and service information. With information available for over 14 million Cummins Engine Serial Numbers (ESNs), QuickServe Online’s fast and easy search function will help you find exactly what you need. When you register, you can view information specific to your Cummins engine, including the Owners Manual and dataplate information as well as the parts catalog for your ESN. QuickServe Online is available as both a web site and a mobile app. The QuickServe Online Mobile app is available in your app store. 350450_Cummins_4087315.indd 4 2/2/15 4:40 PM Step 2: Download The Cummins Tier 4 Operator App. The Cummins Tier 4 Operator App puts all the operational information you need for your Tier 4 Final engine in the palm of your hand. The app contains information on Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) lamps, Exhaust System Cleaning lamps and switches, a DEF calculator and other information about operating your ™ Tier 4 Final engine. The app is available for both Android and ® Apple smartphone platforms. Additional information on the app can be found on www.tier4.info, or you can scan the QR code with your smartphone to download the app. Step 3: Use The Right Fluids And Keep Your System Clean. To get more out of your Tier 4 Final engine, you have to put the right fluids in it – and make sure that everything is working at peak efficiency. Here are some basic guidelines to follow: Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel – Cummins Tier 4 Final engines must be operated on Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD), with a maximum sulfur content of 15 ppm or less. Incorrect fuel usage can result in damage to the engine and aftertreatment system, resulting in inoperable equipment and denied warranty coverage. Low-Ash Engine Oil – Ash from in-cylinder combustion can impact the performance of your aftertreatment system. Using a low-ash engine oil promotes cleaner combustion and helps the aftertreatment system perform optimally. Recommended engine oils such as API CJ-4 or ACEA-E9 engine oil should be used. ™ Direct Flow Air Cleaner – Holds 30 percent more dust particles than conventional filters in 50 percent less space, enabling longer service intervals. Replace primary and secondary filter elements as recommended, for maximum airflow. 350450_Cummins_4087315.indd 5 2/2/15 4:40 PM Maintaining Fuel Cleanliness And Quality. The High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) fuel systems used for all Tier 4 Final engines require a new level of cleanliness. Internal components such as the fuel injectors can be damaged by particles as small as 5 microns. Injector wear reduces engine performance and fuel efficiency – and can lead to severe ® ™ damage of other engine components. Fleetguard fuel filters with NanoNet media are featured on your Cummins Tier 4 Final engine, and provide up to 13 times better protection against harmful particles, particularly under high-vibration and fuel surge conditions. ® Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) – DEF (known as AdBlue in Europe) is a critical element of the Tier 4 Final aftertreatment system. The DEF you purchase should meet and display certification for one or more of the following standards: American Petroleum Institute (API), German Institute of Standardization DIN70700 or the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) 22241. DEF is widely available throughout North America and Europe. Popular web sites such as finddef.com and discoverdef.com provide guidance on purchase outlets. Exhaust System Cleaning – Cummins exhaust system comes with an integral exhaust cleaning function, ensuring that the system remains clean under all operating conditions. With Cummins exhaust system cleaning, your engine and aftertreatment system continue to operate at peak efficiency at all times and under all duty cycle conditions. 350450_Cummins_4087315.indd 6 2/5/15 10:38 AM
