Department: Adab and Humanity Faculty, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, 2019.
This thesis aims to analyze the application of communicative translation
method by Newmark in translating Dr. Zakir Naik’s book “The Qur’aan and Modern
Science”. The writer wants to find how the translator approach the communicative
translation method in translating the text. The writer used the descriptive qualitative
method to analyze the data. She reads, identifies, classifies, and collects the data. She
analyzes this translation according to the theory of communicative translation by
Newmark. The writer finds some translations were translated by using communicative
translation method and the translator used some procedures to help him approach the
communicative translation result such as transposition, modulation, and paraphrase.
All data that has been analyzed are translated very communicative. It proved from the
research findings that every single data has fulfilled the principles of communicative
translation method.
